This page shows how to get started with setting up the HandShake project.

What you’ll need

Lilygo T-Watch S3, (~$45)

Lilygo T-Embed (~$30)

One USB micro cable to connect with the T-Watch for programming and charging.

One USB C cable to connect with the T-Embed for programming, to connect to the device you want to send a keystroke to and for powering the T-Embed through.

Getting started with the T-Watch S3 and the T-Embed

The first time that you use the T-Watch S3, you’ll need to turn on the battery. Instructions and photos showing how to do this are on this page. I got caught out by not switching on the battery!

Setting up the Lilygo T-Watch S3

This page shows how to set up the Lilygo T-Watch S3 to work as part of the handshake project.

Summary

Turn on the watch using a long press on the button.

Shake the watch gently and check that this is detected as a switch by the receiver unit.

Adjust the level of shake that will trigger a switch action using the jog dial on the receiver, followed by a long press on the button in the middle of the jog dial. This sends the new shake detection threshold to the watch.
